Most robotic surgery in the U.S. is performed through five or six separate incisions across the abdomen. The da Vinci SP system accomplishes the same operation through a single small incision about a centimeter below the navel — in my experience, that means less pain, fewer days on pain medication, and a faster return to your life.
The robot never operates on you. I control every movement from a console beside you — it simply gives me steadier hands and better eyes.
